It’s that time of the year again! Yes the Newry Rainbow Community is recruiting and while the pay may be poor (i.e. nil) we would like to think the rewards more than make up for it.

Like any group we need the people to make things happen and while our existing band of volunteers more than do their best, we need new blood to help make things happen for our LGB and T population.

At present we have a drop in centre open 6 days a week, we run the Passion Disco in the Brass Monkey as well as occasional social events and Pride participations elsewhere. We are organizing a Film Night for Women on the 20th of April plus a monthly film night for all from the end of this month!

We have a fledgling cycling group and an occasional walking group and lots more. The NRC have lots of ideas and would love to do much much more both for our community and also events that would help us become more involved with the wider Newry community.

The bottom line though is we can’t do all the things we would like to without a lot more people involved. We need new people to bring new thoughts and ideas to our group with the enthusiasm and most importantly the time to make things happen. It would be especially great to get more girls and more young people on board.

To register you must fill in an application form which is available for download on the www.gaynewry.com Website or can be picked up from a committee member or in the NRC Centre at 82a Hill Street during opening hours. It needs to be returned by Saturday the 28th of April together with a £10 membership fee.
